The best way for new traders to get a handle on what currency trading is all about is to open a practice account. Almost every forex broker offers a free practice account to new clients. All you need to do is to sign up with any good forex broker.

Practice accounts give you the great chance to experience the forex market. You can see how the price changes at different times of the day. Practice accounts are funded with virtual money. So you are able to make trades with no real money at stake and gain experience in how margin trading works.

You can trade your practice account with real market conditions without any fear of losing money. How various currency pairs may differ from each other? How the forex market reacts to new information when major news and economic data is released.

You will also learn using different market orders. How to manage an open position? Improve your understanding of how margin trading and leverage works and start analyzing charts and following technical indicators. You can experiment with different trading strategies and see how they work out in the real market conditions with any fear of losing your money.

Practice accounts are a great way to experience real forex markets. You can also test drive all the features and functionality of a brokers platform. However, one thing you will never be able to simulate on your practice account is the emotions involved in trading. Emotions will only come into play once you put your real money on the line.

You can use market orders like the limit orders or the one cancels the other orders. However, you can also trade the current price of the market using the click and deal feature of your brokers platform. There are many ways to pull the trigger in the forex market. Pulling the trigger means how to enter or exit a position.

Many traders dont want to leave an order that may or may not get executed. Most like the idea of opening a position by trading at the market. Most prefer the certainty of knowing that they are in the market.

You just need to specify the amount that you want to trade. Then click on the buy or sell button to execute the trade. The forex trading platform will respond back within a second or two with a pop-up message either confirming or not confirming that the position was opened. Most forex brokers provide live streaming prices. You can deal with these live price feeds with a simple click of your computer mouse.

Attempts to trade at the market can sometimes fail in very fast moving markets when prices are adjusting quickly like after a data release or break of a key technical level or price point.

In stock trading it is important to know the bonds, securities, commodities and other products being offered in the market. Usually, these products are classified under the category of a DPO otherwise known as direct public offering. DPO shares are purchased directly from the issuing company rather than selling it through a broker or an agent. The DPO can give the average person a chance to invest in a public offering as contrasted to IPO. This is typically low-profile offer thus this can be a bit uneasy to locate. This is a unique stock trading style.

In stock trading, the most crucial part is the decision when to trade. It is of vital importance to determine the right timing to purchase a security that you would like to add up to your holdings. However, this really needs thorough study on that certain share you like to acquire. Always remember that the exchange has a very unpredictable market. If the price drops immediately after you buy, it may seem you missed out on a better buying opportunity. If the price jumps right before you make your move, you may fee as if you paid too much. This is how it goes in this industry.

Some investors let their hearts rule over their heads and cling on to stocks that have fallen in value rather than selling them at a loss. It is indeed hard to admit that they have made a wrong move, but they need to realize that if they continue to keep that losing commodity nothing is benefited. They should sell and trade for a better one so they can move on. The concept of stock trading is not exclusively buying for it also involves selling of investments you do not need.

The process of stock trading is very challenging for it can either turn you hilarious or it can also cause heart attack. This is the beauty of the industry. The challenge is always present every second as long as you are in the arena. You will feel great relief when you have done a successful trade exaction and you are able to get profitable returns. Then you go home a happy person. You just imagine however the opposite side of the coin if you failed.

This is how things go when you are into this business. If the market has up and down trends, it is also the same with stock trading. Always remember that there are two side of the coin and it has two different faces and so is stock trading.

I have been investing for about 24 years and trading for almost 14, and I have learned that if you really want to make GIGANTIC and SPEEDY money, it is better to short term trade rather than investing, swing trading can help you turn your trading into a full time business.

by Sam Nielson

I have been investing for over 20 years and trading for almost 14, and I have learned that if you really want to make HUGE and FAST money, it is better to short term trade rather than investing, trading can make you turn your trading into a full time business.

If you are investing, you must have already achieved some degree of financial success, long term stock investing and FOREX can help you become much richer than you are today.

My experiences as a Nasdaq Market Maker, head trader of several brokerage firms, and currently as a professional trader and private hedge fund manager, I can suggest you:

Strive to make short term profits on a regular basis. You want cash flow coming from the market you are trading. When you find something that works, keep doing it until it stops working. Do not try and hit and home run on every trade. Just try and get on first base. Do not get emotionally attached to a stock, you are not looking to marry a stock, you are looking to make money from it. Remember, small amounts of money on a regular basis is what you are aiming for.

All stocks are worth nothing.

I do not hold on to any illusion that the stock market will continue to go up and provide a nice retirement for me.

All the great traders don’t care which direction the market goes. It doesn’t matter to them if the market goes into a bull market, goes lower, or even goes sideways for the next 9 years. They just don’t care. The best traders know that stocks are nothing more than three letters and a price written next to it.

You should sit back in cash and only trade when you have a clear advantage. If you don’t have an identifiable advantage then your odds of making money on the trade are no better than playing the lottery. This is the biggest reason why new traders and buy and hold investors lose money in the market.

Learn to trade the first hour. The first hour is an extremely volatile time which means it is the best time for you to make your biggest gains on any given trading day.

Most people sit on their hands during the first hour of trading and do nothing.

You need to be in during the first hour of trading so that you can take advantage of rookie stock traders who are buying on emotion because they saw something on TV last night.

How many times have you fell victim to other people's stock advice? "This stock is guaranteed to go up!" Usually, the advice or "stock tip" comes from a friend or associate. It may even come from your own investment advisor.

<div style='italic;' class='tradesbyline'>by Marc Abrams

How many times have you fell victim to other people’s stock advice? “This stock is guaranteed to go up!” Usually, the advice or “stock tip” comes from a friend or associate. It may even come from your own investment advisor.

Our emotions get us thinking. You don’t want to lose out on the potential gains. Irrationally, without blinking an eye, you invest. Most of the time the end result is much worse than you expected. Surprisingly, you continue to repeat this same mistake over and over again.

What is wrong with our thinking? The answer, for most of us, is that our emotions take control of our decisions. They are so powerful that we often ignore our rational, logical thoughts. The opportunity for a quick dollar or hope to “get rich quick” heightens our emotional thinking. You must realize that it is not the rational side of our brain that is tripping us up, but the emotional side!

We tend to ignore many sound investment plans due to emotions. You can, however, quiet that emotional side that forces you to ignore your well thought out investment strategy if you work at it. You can learn to stick to your investment plan through both good and bad times.

Some investors, however, cannot shake the investing demons that compel them into making the same mistakes over and over. It is the casual trader that has the most trouble overcoming emotions in investing. They often lack the experience that allows them to treat investing like a business, and not like a game of poker.

The main emotion driving many investors is the fear of losing money. Making a quick buck is the next one. Don’t forget about the king of all emotions, greed. These emotions cloud your judgment and don’t allow you to clearly see how a particular decision affects your portfolio. When this type of thinking is in play, disaster can strike rather quickly.

When investing, I had a difficult time getting my emotions under control. I was finally able to control my emotions and let my logical side control my investment decisions. To help me do this, I developed an investment system that I use over and over with consistent success. I have certain parameters that I follow to guide me towards the right kinds of investments. This system is black and white, very logical. Now I remain focused and stick to my strategy even when that emotional beast tries to rear its head.

Don’t feel ashamed when you make poor investment decisions over and over. There is good news, you can change things starting now! I have had tremendous success investing in the stock market since I made that change. I also managed to do this when the stock market was in a sharp decline! Please believe me, all you need is a solid investment strategy and the will to keep your emotions in check to be a successful investor. Take the advise of someone that did that very thing!

Modified capitalization weighting involves adjustments to the capitalizations of the various component issues of the Nasdaq-100 index. The NDX contract at the CBOE is based on Nasdaq-100 as is the MNX. The Nasdaq-100 is a modified capitalization weighted index.

Frank Russell Company is one of the leading global investment consultants. It is also involved in performance measurement, analysis and investment management. Russell 2000 is the well known benchmark for small capitalization sector. Several Russell Indexes have become benchmarks for specific areas of investment management.

Russell 3000 Index as the name implies includes 3000 issues and these 3000 companies represent 98% of the investable US equities. The index is adjusted for certain factors such as cross holdings and the number of pairs in hands.

Russell 3000 is further split into subsets like Russell 1000 Index. It covers the top 1000 about 92% of the value of the entire 3,000 stock index. The Russell 2000 Index is the smallest 2000 companies in the Russell 3000 Index.

The Wall Street Journal is probably one of the most perfect business franchises from the business point of view. Dow Jones is the publisher of this journal. The net worth of most of its readers is in seven figures. A franchise that is very hard to duplicate.

DJIA became an important business barometer over the years. Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) comprising 12 smokestack companies made its debut in the year 1896 and it grew to encompass 30 large industrial companies.

The DJIA is still one of the worlds best known stock measures. It consists of 30 largest and most liquid blue chip stocks in the US. The average is maintained by the editors of the Wall Street Journal.

The DJIA unlike the S&P 500, Russell 3000 Indexes or the Nasdaq-100 is a price weighted average. The highest price issues hold the most influence over the average. Recently Microsoft (MSFT) and Intel were added to the DJIA.

A 1 percent move in a $90 Microsoft stock would have a greater impact than a 1 percent move in a $30 Intel stock. ETFs exit on many Dow Indexes like the DJIA, the Dow Jones Total Market Index, the Dow Jones Global Titan Index and various sector indexes.

Wilshire serves over 400 organizations in over 20 countries representing over $2 trillion in assets. Wilshire flagship index is the Wilshire 5000 Total Market Index.

It represents the broadest index for the US equity markets. Over the years, it has increased to 6500 issues representing the increase in the number of companies in the US.

The Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) database contains nearly 25,000 securities. This database covers equities in 50 countries and one of the advantages of MCSI and its foreign indexes is consistency. MSCI calculates nearly 3,000 indexes daily and services a client base of over 1,200 worldwide.

<div style='italic;' class='tradesbyline'>by Ahmad Hassam

Before you open an account with a forex broker and start trading live, you should know that the most important thing for you is good money management. Money management means how much of your portfolio, you are willing to risk on a single trade. How many contracts your risk tolerance warrants?

The important question is how you can improve your investment results by making small changes to your trading strategies. Proper money management can be the difference between becoming a successful forex trader in the long run or an unsuccessful one who decimates his/her account in a few weeks.

Have you ever played poker? If not, watched it being played online or on TV! If you have then you will never see a good poker player play all his/her cards on a single bet. Good poker players know that by risking only a small percentage of their money on a single bet, they can win and lose. But he/she will still play the next hand. If he/she puts everything on the table on a single bet; it will have to be a 100% sure bet. An impossible thing, you can never be 100% sure. Life is full of probabilities. Nothing is for sure.

Forex trading is far more complicated than playing poker. You are dealing with hundreds of unknown variables that affect the markets instead of only 52 cards. To succeed in forex trading, you must understand and implement the money management principles.

Many pitfalls will cross your way while trading. As a trader you should be constantly aware of two emotions; greed and fear. In case you win a trade, you will become greedy and would want to risk more to make one big win. You would want to strike it rich in one or two trades. This will drive you to take more and more risk.

In case you lose a trade, you will become fearful of risking your money on the next trade. Now, fear will take over and impair your decision making. Fear will make you lose confidence in your judgment and decision making. Lets see how fear and greed can impair your trading results.

Lets suppose you have a run of successful trades that makes you very happy. You are feeling overconfident. You are not satisfied on risking only 2% of your account on one single trade and you want to risk more on the trade. You are thinking, the more you have in a trade, the more you will make if you are right. You are willing to increase your risk to 5%. You increase it to 5% and you win. You increase it further to 10% and you once again win. You finally decide to put 25% of your account at risk on the next big trade, but misfortune strikes all of a sudden. Your successful run comes to an end and you lose big.

Suppose you had a $100,000 trading account and you had foolishly risked 25% or $25,000 on one trade that you desperately wanted to win. Losing $25,000 means you have only $75,000 in your account now after your loss. How much you need to make to get back the original balance of $100,000; you need to make $25,000 again to go back to the original balance. It means you will have to make 25,000/75,000= 33%, so you risked 25% but now you will need to make 33% to get back your original amount.

Many investors once they lose a trade become desperate and try to risk more to recover their original loss. They end up losing more and more and very soon those investors destroy their accounts. Most of them are out of trading forever soon. There are other traders who try to reduce risk even more on making a losing trade; eventually they lose any opportunity for meaningful growth in their accounts.

<div style='italic;' class='tradesbyline'>by Taylor Bans

I like a good return on my investments, and I thought that ETFs, while a safe investment, probably wouldn’t bring the returns I wanted on my money. The low buy in cost with the low risk makes them attractive, but the yields can be disappointing and I considered them a long term strategy.

A friend of mine told me about ETF Trading Signals and said he was doing better with his ETF investments since he started subscribing to the service. I was skeptical, but I took a look and did some investigating. ETF Trading Signals changed the way I looked as ETFs as an investment instrument. While the returns were less than I make on some of my hot stocks, the risk was a lot lower. I decided to try it out.

Generally ETFs are long term investments. Unlike the techniques of hot stocks or trend following, most people who invest in ETFs are in it for the long haul. That means your capital is tied up and your returns may not be as high as you would like. ETF Trading Signals gives you a heads up on which ETFs are making the most profits, so you can buy and sell ETFs like you would any other issue.

So by using the alerts and tips from ETF Trading Signals, you can increase your profits without increasing your risks. There are some advantages to ETFs in addition to the low risk. The buy in on ETFs is relatively low. Even if you don’t have a lot to invest, you can buy into ETFs. If you have a strategy to buy and sell ETFs, you can make a reasonably good profit. You do have to pay an annual fee though, as with any mutual fund.

I’m not ready to give up any of my other investment strategies, but adding ETFs to my portfolio has been a good idea. Part of keeping your money safe is in diversifying your investments so that losses in one area are covered by gains in another. ETFs are part of that strategy. ETF Trading Signals isn’t always right, but so far their predictions have held up for me. With ETFs, you’re more likely to sell because of low returns rather than because of any losses.

This market may not be for everyone. i like to keep my investments diverse for the best returns. I still use hot stock and trend following strategies and I have a little action going in Forex as well. ETFs are an addition to my other market methods and it is one more thing to watch, but I believe its a good investment. You can still, of course, buy ETFs as a long term investment if you aren’t interested in keeping up with all the markets ups and downs.

So far, by following ETF Trading Signals I’ve been able to stay ahead of the curve and make more on my investments than I expected to when I decided to enter this market. I often make more with my other methods, but I also risk more and I have taken heavy losses on hot stocks in the past. The risk is so much lower for ETFs, that I’m more likely to sell because I’m not happy with the return than because of any financial loss on the issue.

Look into ETFs as a long or short term investment and check out ETF Trading Signals to find out which issues are most likely to bring the best yields. This may be the best market for the small investor, because of the low risk factor. I’ve done better with this than I thought was possible.

Proper information is very essential for any person who is trying to make a fortune out of the investments he is making. Investing information for dummies is oriented around the novice people who know almost nothing about the investment strategies. Generally, novice people are supposed to have little or nil knowledge about the investment strategies. Investing information for dummies is designed to cater to these ‘dummies’ so that can make use of the information provided to generate high yielding results.

Recent studies reveal that there are plenty of people who have lots of money with them but do not know who to make fortune with the ‘investments’. We consider those people as dummies. This ‘Investment Information for Dummies’ provides some tremendous information for people as such so that they can make the most out of their investments in the stock market. The basic fundamental of investing is to know when and where to invest the money. As stock market is completely volatile, discerning the market patterns is highly important to know what’s coming in the next phase. Investors worldwide follow a general pattern of buying the shares at low prices and dissipating them at the maximum possible rates. In general, the value or the rate of a share is directly proportional to the demand the market has on it.

To make the most of investing in the stocks, one has to increase his investment information on the “Way”s and “How”s of investments. One has to anticipate the value and demand of a share based on the market trends before the others do. To make a better profit, one has to buy the stocks for a lower price, and sell them for a higher price before demand looses. It is not advisable to sell the stocks/shares too early. It is also not advised to sell the shares with a delay. Doing so can lead to losses to one’s shares. The trades have to be done on the right and exact time.

Investing information for dummies primarily focuses on all the fundamental aspects of investing. To make profits, one always has a hell lot of options to choose from. He can either invest in mutual funds or can invest in stocks or can invest in any other relative field that generates huge profits. Also to facilitate his trading transactions, there exists plenty of investment software enabling him to put all his strategies in the automatic machine. The automatic investing software takes care of all his trading transactions and does the trading automatically based on the strategies that the investor has fed into it. The software never contradicts the rules set by the investor and also notifies him whenever it comes across some events or patterns that are close to the rules set by the individual. Before doing the trades automatically with the help of a software, it is highly recommended to do an in-depth analysis of the potential of the investing software. There are plenty of software packages available in this regard. If you are not satisfied with the one you already are having, try to choose one that caters to all your needs.

Also, do not depend on other’s investing information. Get to know the information by yourself and customize it to your needs before implementing them in your project.

As a forex trader, you might well be aware of the importance of being updated with the latest goings-on in the currency market. Indeed, changes happen every minute in the foreign exchange market that it helps to have up-to-date information on the market trends and conditions. Other than news articles on currency issues and updates, you can also learn more about these important details from forex blogs. If you look up a forex blog, you will notice that it contains valuable information for beginners. More often than not, forex blogs will also contain information that both beginners and seasoned traders will find helpful.

One such detail that you can learn more about in a forex blog is the vulnerability of currencies. It is not enough that you are familiar with the different currencies and their valuation. You should also learn more about the different factors that affect their strength in the market.

For example, there has been a noted decline in the power of the US dollar these past few weeks. If you try to check forex blogs, most of them will cover the different reasons why the US currency has weakened. There are those who say that the decline in the dollar rate is brought about by the rising oil prices that has somehow revealed vulnerabilities in the US economy. Pressures from the Federal Reserve also affect the strength fof the US dollar, as well as the growing consensus on whether or not central banks should start or continue to cut interest rates.

Forex blogs do not only feature news and updates on the US currency, it is also normal to see a forex blog highlighting stories on other currencies, such as the British pound and euro, as well as Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand dollars. Many foreign exchange traders are interested in these currencies because they tend to be strong and stable as compared to the US dollar. The British pound and euro are also valued more than the US dollar, although the US currency still remains as a universal trading denomination.

When you are after the latest news and updates regarding the variable forex market trends and conditions, you can either set your eyes on finance news broadcasts or you can look up a reliable forex blog on the internet.
