Investing Basics in Stocks
Before you begin investing, study up. You need to spend some serious time learning about stocks. I’m not telling you that you need to go to college for a finance degree. That is a bit overkill if all you’re trying to do is learn about investing to invest your own money.
What basics do you need to understand? First and foremost, you must understand the stock market, know what it is, and know how it works. For even more detail, you need to know what a market and a stock are.
To know what a stock is, you will need to know what a corporation is and what it means for a corporation to go public. This core information is what you need to move from level to level learning about stocks.
You’re also going to have to learn how to do stock research and what it involves. This includes learning how to read financial statements as well as understanding stock indexes, price charts, and financial ratios.
Another thing you’ll need to learn about is when to buy and sell stocks. You can’t time the market, but you can learn when buying or selling individual stocks is the smartest move. The idea is to buy low and sell high if you wan to capital gains, and capital gains is what you need in order to make money.
Where will you find all this information to learn and why haven’t I provided it for you? If I gave you all this information now right here, you would have thousands and thousands of words to read and it would no longer be an article. You need to read, read, and read some more.
This isn’t everything you will need to know. I have just included the basics, the bare minimum. Over time you will learn a lot more. You will find yourself getting carried away at times and learning more and more. You will read book after book and may even subscribe to a few financial magazines. Don’t give up, keep plugging away and start investing to increase your wealth.
